We all know the problem: we want to change the transmitter or make the film louder, because the remote control suddenly no longer reacts. This can be due to all kinds of opportunities.

We also show five quick solutions on how you can get the trigger back to work.

1. Check the batteries

The most likely is that the batteries of your remote controls are empty. Before you exchange them, you have two ways to test whether it is at all.

1. Press the on/off switch of the remote control and see if the LED flashes. If it doesn’t, the juice is empty.
2. You can check the charging status of the remote control using the settings of modern smart TVs.

If you are sure that the batteries are empty, they replace them with a few new ones and the problem is solved.

Should you only replace one of two batteries? No, because the energy is evenly distributed on the batteries and it discharges at the same time.

2. Pair the remote control again

Smart remote controls are often connected to the television via Bluetooth. This usually happens automatically or with the initial setup.

It may be that the remote control loses the connection to the TV or that it comes to dropouts. Then it helps to re -pair them with the television. There are usually two options for this.

1. Use a shortcut. It is different for every brand. With Samsung’s Smart remotes, for example, you have to hold the return and the Play/Pause key for three seconds at the same time.
2. Use the settings on the TV. In the case of a couplable remote control, you will find a corresponding menu to the settings. Navigates there and connects the trigger and television.

Once you have done everything correctly, a step-by-step instructions should appear on the TV screen, which you just have to go through for re-coupling.

3. Look for obstacles

As a rule, remote controls with the TV communicate via an infrared signal. If this signal is blocked by somewhat, it does not reach the recipient of the television and you cannot switch.

What can the infrared signal block? First and foremost large pieces of furniture such as the coffee table or part of the interior. The culprit could also be smaller if he happened to be in front of the infrared receiver of the TV.

However, it does not always have to be a physical obstacle. If dust or dirt adhere to the infrared sensor – on TV or the remote control – this can also affect functionality. Both clean in this case.

4. Check the infrared signal

There is a very simple way to check whether the remote control releases infrared light at all.

1. Turn on the camera of your cell phone.
2. The upper end of the remote control on the camera lens.
3. Keep any button down.

If all the previous tips do not help, you are well advised to completely separate the TV from the electricity and carry out a factory reset. This resolved any software problems.

1. Switch off your TV as usual.
2. Pull the plug and wait a few seconds.
3. Put the plug back into the can and switch on your TV.
4. If the remote control still does not go after the restart, you use the buttons on the TV to go to the menu if available.
