Taylor Swift’s work is being studied in a new Belgian university course –

The Taylor Swift fandom continues to amaze. The musician has broken all sorts of records over the years, including the most No. 1 albums by a female artist, the most albums on Billboard’s top 10 hit list since the 1960s, the best-earning tour of all time and more. With this level of success, it shouldn’t really surprise anyone that Swift has now been credited as a centerpiece of a Belgian university program.

As The Guardian notes, Swift has been credited as the inspiration behind the English literature course offered by Elly McCausland at Ghent University, in which the course seeks to study Swift’s texts and work alongside the likes of William Shakespeare, Charlotte Brontë and more.

The course will attempt to study the parallels between Swift’s work and the great writers of the past and show that while the older texts may seem inaccessible, they can be accessible when viewed from a different angle.

McCausland stated: “I’ve never had so many emails from eager students asking if they can take the course. And actually also non-students, people who are not part of the university and want to participate in some way.”
