Hodgson replaces Ranieri on the Watford bench

MADRID, Jan. 25 (Royals Blue) –

Former England coach Roy Hodgson was appointed on Tuesday as Watford’s new coach after the dismissal, a day earlier, of Italian Claudio Ranieri due to poor results that keep the Premier League team in relegation places.

“Watford FC are pleased to confirm the appointment of Roy Hodgson as manager of the club. The former national team boss will be joined by his trusted assistant Ray Lewington, who managed the ‘Hornets’ so admirably from 2002 to 2005.” The English club reported in a statement.

In addition to his experience with the English national team, Roy Hodgson – 74 years old – has an extensive resume after having managed Inter Milan, Liverpool, Fulham or Crystal Palace among many other clubs in a long career.

Their main challenge will be to lift Watford out of the bottom half and end a worrying run of nine games without a win in all competitions. Its premiere will be against Burnley on February 5 from 7:00 p.m.
