Motorola launches Moto G53, a new budget model for 2023

In addition to the top-of-the-line Moto X40, Motorola has also unveiled a new option for budget buyers, the Moto G53.

While it comes with modern design features, such as a screen cut out behind the contours of the casing and perforated to the right of the camera, the Moto G53 makes some compromises in key aspects, such as HD+ resolution. Otherwise, the 6.5-inch LCD screen is quite promising, offering such strengths as 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch interface. Another element of “mystery” is the chipset used, with Motorola describing only a Snapdragon solution with an octa-core CPU.

The Moto G53 comes with a very flat design, kept even for the side bezel, which appears slightly rounded only in the edge area. There are two cameras on the back of the phone, but their details were not specified. All the physical buttons are on the right side of the phone.

Although it doesn’t offer 5G connectivity, the Moto G53 supports 4G VoLTE on both SIM cards and comes with Bluetooth 5 support. The list of features is completed with a 5000mAh battery, 18W fast charging, 3.5mm headphone jack output. The casing offered in black and blue-white color versions gets IP52 certification for dust and splash protection.

The phone comes in 4GB and 8GB LPDDR4X RAM configurations, both featuring 128GB of internal storage, expandable up to 1TB by attaching a microSD card.

Prices, valid for Chinese store offerings, are $129 and $157. The Moto G53 ships with Android version 13, in MyUI 5.0 interpretation. Unfortunately, Motorola hasn’t provided any information on the global availability of this phone.
