REVIEW The Watcher – The Netflix thriller that shows you the hell inside heaven

The Watcher is the new cinematic sensation you can watch on Netflix. If you like mystery-filled movies, here’s a good option for a weekend when you want to do nothing but watch movies.

Off the top of your head, you should know that The Watcher is inspired by a real case. If you don’t know the case, you’d do well to investigate only after you manage to finish watching this limited series so as not to spoil your enjoyment.

The Watcher, miniseries coming from the creator of Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story

In other good news, The Watcher comes from Ryan Murphy, creator of Monster – The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, American Horror Story, American Horror Stories, Feud, 9-1-1, Mr. Harrigan’s Phone, The Andy Warhol Diaries, American Crime Story, Glee, Halston, Ratched, The Politician and Running with Scissors.

Basically, if you’ve seen even one of these productions, you’ll definitely want to see what The Watcher is all about.

As I mentioned in a previous article, The Watcher managed, after days, to dethrone Murphy’s other hit Netflix show about the life of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

Be warned, the filming method is a tough one to follow. Trying to avoid technical terms, I’ll tell you that the footage has a tendency to “shake” and does so intentionally, giving you the feel of a documentary filmed by an amateur. Certainly, the decision is made this way to help you better integrate yourself into a scary story that is sourced from a real case (with the appropriate adaptations, of course – after all, artistic license makes the difference between a documentary and a series or film).

The Watcher stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Jennifer Coolidge, Mia Farrow and Richard King, among many others.

The film tells the story of a couple who move into the home they’ve always dreamed of, but this heaven is not what it seems, their existence here turning into a nightmare.
