As part of the SC24 computer conference, Game of Thrones’ Mountain, who is really known as Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and was named the world’s strongest man in 2019, was brought out in front of the cameras to complete an incredible and strange deadlift task.
The strong man had to lift 996 lbs of SSDs, with this being the Phison Pascari D205V 128TB model that, according to Tom’s Hardware, delivers a read speed of up to 14,600 MB/s and a write speed of 3,200 MB/s, making them the fastest 120TB SSD in the industry when launched in the second quarter of 2025 for what is considered a very expensive price tag.
The event was held at the booth of technology company VDURA and was described as a “deadlift of data”. While it is nowhere near the deadlift record of all time, thought to be around 1,280 lbs, it is still a remarkable achievement and undoubtedly one of the most expensive deadlifts in history.
