Varujan Vosganian is a guest on the ALTCEVA podcast with Adrian Artene

Romanian writer of Armenian origin, Varujan Vosgaian, is Adrian Artene’s guest on the ALTCEVA podcast that will be broadcast on Saturday, October 1, starting at 7:00 pm.

Varujan Vosganian was born on 25 July 1958 in Craiova into an ethnic Armenian family, survivors of the Genocide committed against Armenians in the Ottoman Empire between 1915-1923.

Vosganian spent his childhood and adolescence in the city of FocÈ™ani, where his grandparents had settled after his father. His childhood memories are the starting point of his famous novel “The Book of Whispers”, which was nominated three years in a row for the Nobel Prize for Literature.

After completing his secondary education at the “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” High School in FocÈ™ani, he graduated from the Faculty of Commerce at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest (1982, as head of class) and from the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Bucharest (1991). In 1998 he obtained his PhD from the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest, with a topic on the reform of financial markets.

He has been president of the Romanian Armenian Union since its re-establishment in 1990 and first vice-president of the Romanian Writers’ Union since 2005. His books have been translated into over 20 languages.
