Zelenski escapes unhurt in Kiev traffic accident

Sep. 15 () –

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski was involved early Thursday in a traffic accident in Kiev while returning from the city of Izium, although he was unhurt.

This was confirmed by the Ukrainian president’s spokesman, Sergei Nikiforov, who detailed in a statement on Facebook that a vehicle crashed into the presidential convoy.

According to Nikiforov, doctors accompanying the Ukrainian president provided emergency assistance to the driver of the car and then he was transferred to a hospital by ambulance. “The president was examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were found,” the missive reads.

The Ukrainian police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, according to a presidential spokesman.

Zelenski had traveled during the day on Wednesday to the locality of Izium, located in the Kharkov region and “liberated” recently from Russian troops, where he has attended the official flag-raising ceremony.

“Before, looking up, we always looked for the blue sky, for the sun. Now, especially in the occupied territories, we are looking for only one thing – the flag of our country,” Zelenski has said in the presence of military “heroes,” according to his office.
