Six new grain ships leave Ukrainian ports for inspection in Turkey

Latest news on the war pitting Russia and Ukraine.

The Turkish Defense Ministry reported Friday that six vessels loaded with grain have departed from Ukrainian ports for Turkey for inspection under the agreement signed between Ukraine and Russia.

“The shipment of grain in Ukrainian ports continues as planned,” the Turkish Defense Ministry has said on its official Twitter profile, from where it usually reports the departure of ships with grain to the coordination center, which is located in Istanbul.

The agreement went ahead after the parties agreed to a UN-sponsored plan, along with Ankara’s collaboration, to form this center in Turkey’s capital with the aim of carrying out joint inspections at the entrances and exits of ports and ensuring the safety of the routes.

Ships cross the Black Sea to the Bosphorus Strait in Turkey, where the center is located and is responsible for examining ships entering Ukraine to ensure that they are not carrying weapons or combat material.
