It is already known that Apple has decided to produce its new mixed reality glasses with particularly high-quality materials. At a price of 3,500 euros, this is not surprising either, but the Vision Pro is a device that you have to wear on your head – and every additional gram of weight counts.
To relieve the neck and increase comfort, the headset has a headband – which is probably sold as an optional accessory.
According to insiders, the headband is not included
Apple expert Mark Gurman has shared more details about upcoming Apple products in his latest Power On newsletter. Including an important detail for Apple’s new mixed reality glasses.
According to Gurman, the upper headband will not be part of the scope of delivery and sold as an optional extra instead. Apple also introduced the Vision Pro with a price starting at 3,500 euros, which leaves room for additional accessories and configurations.
The headband shown here should probably be available as an option. It has not yet appeared on other videos and photos of the Vision Pro. (Image: Apple)
A point of criticism often raised by early testers is the high weight of the headset. Apple has decided against cheap and light materials, which makes the device significantly higher quality, but at the expense of carrying comfort.
The Vision Pro is largely made of aluminum and glass, which you can feel.
The headband can help offset the heavy weight, but like Zeiss corrective lenses, it will likely be sold as an optional accessory.
Apple has already proven in the past that this is not so unlikely. The monitor stand for the Pro XDR display is also sold separately and had an RRP of 1,100 euros at release.
Another example would be the Apple Mac Pro Wheel Kit – Wheels for the Mac Pro PC. These were also an optional extra that cost 850 euros.
VR alternative for gamers
Gurman does not yet know how much the separate headband will cost. However, a price in the three-digit range is not unlikely.
