Xiaomi announces list of phones getting MIUI 14 update

Also announced for global markets, the MIUI 14 interface is coming to even more Xiaomi phone models.

On the occasion of the launch of the new Xiaomi 13 flagship, the manufacturer also unveiled the global markets version of the MIUI 14 interface, slightly simplified compared to the China edition. Thus, without automatically involving the update to Android 13, the MIUI 14 interface will arrive in the coming period on 18 phone models already released for Western markets:

While confirming the distribution of updates starting Q1-2023 and even promising to add to the current list, Xiaomi does not put forward a precise timeline. Unfortunately, past years’ experience has shown that owners of older phones on the list may have to wait even several months after the initial announcement.

Among the new features of MIUI 14 we have optimized storage by automatically archiving rarely used apps, more intuitive interactions and new privacy features. Further, heavily inspired by iOS, the MIUI 14 interface improves the home screen by offering support for large folders, support for cards with more information from favorite apps, new widgets and wallpaper images. At the same time, persistent notifications are now allowed to be removed from the list.

Sensitive data is processed without leaving the device. MIUI 14 minimizes security risks by processing certain functions locally, such as text recognition from scanned images.

Xiaomi says the new MIUI version is “lighter” than ever, receiving numerous optimizations to reduce memory and CPU consumption, with direct benefits on battery consumption and performance felt.
