More and more special versions of smartphones are appearing lately, in partnership with various brands. Just today we heard about the launch of a Samsung in partnership with BMW, and Realme launched a “Coca-Cola” phone, so a Xiaomi Civi 2 with Hello Kitty doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. But it seems that many of these models are coming exclusively to Asian markets, such as China, South Korea, Japan and India, and less so to the rest of the world.
Xiaomi Civi 2 Hello Kitty doesn’t offer much customization
The Xiaomi Civi 2 is a mid-range smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, among the few on the market to benefit from this hardware platform from Qualcomm. With 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, it looks to be an upper mid-range phone that also uses fairly capable cameras, with a 50-megapixel main sensor on the back.
The partnership with Japanese brand Hello Kitty seems to be centered around Valentine’s Day, with the box the phone comes in being red with the brand’s famous logo and a back decorated with multiple pink “kitties”.
There don’t seem to be very many other personalised items in the box, but at a price of 2,799 yuan, which is about 400 euros and only a few euros more than the standard variant (2,699 yuan), you can’t expect much in the way of bonuses.
Unfortunately, the phone seems to be available only in China. In fact, the Civi 2 isn’t even officially released in Europe yet. Maybe if we get an official version of this model, under a different name, maybe Xiaomi 13 Lite or a Redmi or POCO, we’ll get this special edition too. But until then, we have confirmation that the Xiaomi 13 Pro will be officially announced in Europe on Sunday, February 26, the day before the Mobile World Congress technology trade show kicks off.
