VIDEO Disney’s Pinocchio gets a new trailer: when you can see it online

Walt Disney Pictures has released a new trailer for the remake of the animated Pinocchio, and you can watch it below.

Pinocchio is one of Walt Disney’s original animated classics, being the studio’s second feature film after Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.

As Disney began to invest in remakes of classic animated films, such as Alice in Wonderland, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, it became only a matter of time before Pinocchio “happened” the same way.

The film comes from acclaimed director Robert Zemeckis, and the role of Geppetto will be played by Tom Hanks.

Pinocchio is set to be released on Disney+ on September 8, 2022, as part of Disney Days, the day that Thor: Love and Thunder will also make its Disney+ debut, along with the new Cars on the Road series.

The trailer features the main character, which is a first, since the original teaser didn’t show us any footage of the iconic doll.

Disney’s Pinocchio is just one of two films based on the classic fairy tale coming to streaming soon.

Guillermo del Toro has also made his own version of Pinocchio for Netflix, which will premiere in select theaters in November before hitting the streaming service in December.

Of course, del Toro’s version is different, with a slightly darker “vibe” than the Disney classic. Obviously, the parent company won’t stray too far from the original version, and the reasons are understandable: Disney needs to keep a straight line.

Remakes of older animated films, such as Pinocchio or the upcoming Peter Pan movie, are seen as having substantial value, release-wise, for Disney+, but it remains to be seen whether they will enjoy as much success as the early first releases.
