VIDEO Another Dracula film on the horizon. What we know about House of Darkness, when you can see it

The trailer for House of Darkness reveals that we’re getting another gothic horror film about Dracula. The film’s cast includes Justin Long (Die Hard 4) and Kate Bosworth (Superman Returns).

Basically, it reimagines the novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker, all over again.

Written and directed by Neil LaBute, the story behind House of Darkness revolves around a young man who, after meeting a woman at a local bar, takes her home to a secluded estate belonging to the woman. While he hopes his mysterious new encounter will turn into another relationship, things take a turn for the worse and their flirtation takes on sinister notes. Gia Crovatin and Lucy Walters also appear in supporting roles.

Saban Films has released an official trailer for House of Darkness, putting the spotlight on the character played by Long as he finds himself in a difficult situation. The trailer begins with the characters played by Long and Bosworth sitting in front of a fireplace and “telling each other stories”. The trailer ends with Long tied to a chair, followed by an awkward shot of a pile of men’s shoes, suggesting that the woman is not on her first attempt.

Incidentally, Justin Long is not making his first horror film. In 2001, he starred in Jeepers Creepers, and later appeared in Sam Raimi’s horror film Drag Me to Hell. The film marks Long’s return to the niche genre after Tusk in 2014.

The trailer labels the film as a reimagining of Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, but unlike Francis Ford Coppola’s 1992 adaptation, which starred Gary Oldman in the title role, House of Darkness is to tell the iconic story in a modern setting.

The new Dracula will make its theatrical debut on September 9, later to be released digitally.
