American muscle has been feeling a bit tame lately, especially compared to where it was in the 60s, 70s and 80s. But Ford plans to flip this script on its head in the near future, as the auto giant has now announced the Ford Mustang GTD, a car described as “unapologetic” and the fastest drive-away Mustang ever.
How does it manage that, the car is powered by a 5.2-liter V8 that is expected to produce a whopping 800 horsepower. It also features a host of other components aimed at ensuring that the engine runs at its best.
“Mustang GTD represents the very best of Ford Motor Company and what our team has to do every day.” said Jim Farley, CEO and president of Ford. “This is what happens when we take what we’re good at and push the boundaries to see where the bubble stops. It represents the essence of the transformation we’re going through at Ford, from software to special editions.”
The car will make its first appearance at Le Mans next year and will then be launched in late 2024/early 2025, all for the estimated price of $300,000. Yes, that’s supercar territory, but so is the performance of the vehicle.
