UN Security Council to discuss next Monday the situation in Afghanistan

The United Nations Security Council will hold this coming Monday a briefing on the situation in Afghanistan, one year after the Taliban conquest of the country.

The meeting, chargé d’affaires of the Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the UN Nasir Ahmad Faiq has confirmed, will be held at Russia’s request and will cover the humanitarian and economic situation in Afghanistan, Tolo News confirms.

The Taliban have welcomed this meeting, as “any that will benefit the people of Afghanistan.”

“We applaud any meeting in which the problems of this country are discussed,” said the fundamentalist movement’s deputy spokesman, Bilal Karimi.
