The head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, has assured Thursday that to end the war in Ukraine it is necessary to “destroy the economy” of Russia “in the short term”.

For this, he stressed, it is necessary to “introduce an embargo on gas imports and increase restrictions against oil” from Russia, he said in a message broadcast via his Telegram account.

Thus, he has stressed that an oil embargo by the European Union “will significantly increase the damage caused to the Russian economy for the next year” and, ultimately, “this will allow to end the war.”

In late May, the European Union introduced a sixth package of sanctions against Russia that mainly included a ban on imports of Russian oil by sea.
