MADRID, March 7. (Royals Blue) –
The Ukrainian authorities have accused Russian forces on Monday of killing the mayor of the city of Hostomel, Yuri Prilipko, when he was participating in a delivery of humanitarian aid to those affected by the conflict unleashed by the Russian invasion, which began on February 24 .
The local council of Hostomel has indicated in a message posted on its account on the social network Facebook that Prilipko has died along with two other people. “Nobody forced him to stand under the bullets of the occupants. He was able, like thousands of others, to sit in a basement. Who would have blamed him?”, the agency has pointed out.
“He made his choice. He died for the community. He died for Hostomel. He died as a hero,” he stressed. The town of Hostomel is located on the outskirts of the capital, Kiev, and is home to a major airfield that has been one of the epicenters of the fighting since the start of the Russian invasion.
