Twitter blue ticks are officially a paid service only. Previously granted and used to determine a verified social media channel, Twitter, under the leadership of Elon Musk, has decided that this should no longer be the case and that only those who pay a subscription to the platform should have access to the long-coveted blue tick.
Although a large number of once-verified individuals have now lost their blue mark, this purge has not discriminated against some of the platform’s biggest and most influential individuals, and this includes none other than Beyoncé and Cristiano Ronaldo, two people who together have accounts that see more than 125 million people following them.
This means that if the soccer and music legends want their blue checkmarks back, they will each have to pay £67 a year to have the brand reinstalled on their accounts. Not that that would put much of a dent in either’s finances.
