Twitch and NASA announce first live stream from space station – That’s Gaming

Twitch, the interactive livestreaming service, today announced a special partnership with NASA. NASA is hosting a live Twitch event from space for the first time on Wednesday, Feb. 12, at 5:45 p.m. local time. This event will take place aboard the International Space Station, which is located more than 400 kilometers above Earth. During the livestream, viewers will have the opportunity to ask astronauts questions about life on a space station.

NASA has been active on Twitch for some time and has hosted several events on the livestreaming service. With this event from the International Space Station the organization is taking the next step in live streaming on Twitch. During the event, NASA astronauts Don Pettit and Matt Dominick will talk about their work experience and daily life in space. In addition, the event will highlight ways Twitch users can connect with NASA such as at citizen science projects and programs in science, technology, engineering and math designed to help the Artemis Generation to inspire.

“This Twitch event from space is the first of many.” shares Brittany Brown, Director, Office of Communications Digital and Technology Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “We spoke with creators at TwitchCon about their desire for streams tailored to their community, and we listened. To complement our spacewalks, launches and landings, we will be hosting more Twitch-exclusive streams like this one. Twitch is one of the many digital services we use to reach new audiences and get them excited about all things space-related.”
