After the phenomenal success of Top Gun: Maverick, in cinemas around the world, one of the stars of that film has revealed that she “would be having a series of conversations” about the possibility of a third film.
Miles Teller, i.e. the man who plays Rooster, son of Maverick’s best friend Goose, gave a series of interesting statements to Entertainment Tonight: “I’ve had some conversations with him (n.r. Tom Cruise) about it. We’ll see,” Teller said, referring to the possibility of a sequel to Top Gun.
There’s no doubt about it: this news will thrill fans who have been coming to theaters to watch the sequel to the original 1986 film, given its recent success. Just a few days ago, Maverick broke a hard-to-match record, ticking off the $1 billion mark to become the highest-grossing film of the year, knocking Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness into second place.
Top Gun 3, conditioned by Tom Cruise: “It’s all up to Tom”
Miles Teller added, however, that the final decision may inevitably have fallen to Tom Cruise who, at least initially, didn’t seem too thrilled at the prospect of making a sequel, despite widespread success.
“It would be great, but it’s all up to Tom Cruise,” Teller said. “It all depends on Tom.”
Meanwhile, Cruise continues to work hard on his latest film, Mission Impossible, filming several scenes in London while enjoying himself as a spectator at Wimbledon or watching the Rolling Stones concert in London’s Hyde Park.
So, obviously, at some point Tom Cruise might answer in the affirmative, but it will be some time before he does, since the actor seems extremely busy.
