Director Taika Waititi has spoken about the ending of Thor: Love and Thunder ahead of its official theatrical release, saying fans should expect something truly unique.
Chris Hemsworth returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, straight into Phase 4, for a fourth film. In turn, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi also returns, after the two reinvented the god of thunder, injecting a bit of comedy into his character. Love & Thunder continues Thor’s story after Avengers: Endgame, where audiences saw the god leave Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy, hoping to learn his true origin.
There’s no doubt about it: fans are eagerly awaiting the MCU’s Thor: Love and Thunder. Jane Foster’s (Natalie Portman) transformation into the Mighty Thor is among the film’s most exciting elements, while Christan Bale’s debut as Gorr the God Butcher is by far the icing on the cake.
Thor: Love & Thunder, ready to reveal its secrets
Pre-release reviews for the Thor: Love and Thunder movie are mostly positive. However, the real hoopla will begin soon once it’s released worldwide.
Prior to the theatrical release of Thor: Love and Thunder, director Taika Waititi spoke with Empire (via The Direct) about the film as part of the MCU’s introduction of the film in Phase 4.
Waititi offered a few details, but not enough to give away the whole movie, about what might happen, in the future, with Thor. According to him, the end of Love and Thunder is an unexpected one. In other words, there’s a possibility that the character will undergo a major, perhaps even permanent change.
“The ending of this movie is so cool, so satisfying and so unexpected for this character. I wish I could come out and say this before the audience says: “We’ve had enough of you.” But if we come up with an idea that’s surprising and new to an audience, chances are we’ll resist,” Taika Waititi said.
