MADRID, Feb. 28 (Royals Blue) –

The Government of the United States announced this Monday the closure of its Embassy in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, and has indicated that it has authorized the departure of the workers of the Embassy of the country in Russia, as well as their families, due to a change in the status of the diplomatic legation.

In a statement, the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has indicated that Washington has “suspended its operations at its Embassy in Minsk” and has “authorized the voluntary departure of non-essential workers from the Embassy in Moscow” and their families.

“We take these measures due to security issues in the face of the unjustified attack and without any prior provocation by the Russian Army against Ukraine,” the text collects.

Thus, he has clarified that “there is no higher priority than the safety of US citizens, which includes government personnel and their workers around the world.”
