The Slim Digital does not come with a drive. You can do that retrofit if desiredin my eyes but you don’t need that. On the one hand, most people buy their games digitally anyway, but on the other hand, a disc edition of a game often requires a large download.

PS5 vs. PS5 Slim – What are the differences exactly?

With the PS5 Slim, Sony did what they did with previous generations: the console shrunk without compromising performance close. This means you get the full power of the PS5, just in a smaller and lighter case. Especially those Digital Edition is a highlight for everyone who can do without discs and buy their games purely digitally.

1. Slimmer design and less weight

The most obvious difference from the original PS5 is the design. The PS5 Slim Digital Edition is about 30% smaller and weighs 24% less. This not only saves space, but also makes it easier to handle if you want to take the console with you to friends or while traveling.

2. No discs? No problem!

The Digital Edition completely dispenses with an optical drive. This means you can’t play Blu-rays or use physical games. That’s not a big loss – most people now buy their games digitally anyway.
