Romania has many places of story, and among these places is the unique village that you can reach only by stairs. Find out where it is located and how you can get there.

When it comes to enchanting places, there are still places that you can reach the hardest. There are many such places in Romania, but something more special is the village of Ineleț, which you can reach only after you have crossed winding paths that climb to the top of the mountain.

The route to this village, but also to Scărișoasa are special due to their beauty. Thus, you will climb the stairs from a rock, directly to the mountain, these stairs being almost vertical. These two villages are located at an altitude of over 1,000 meters.

They do not have electricity, roads, cars or any other means related to a contemporary community. The life of the people here is different. Even them, they are very calm and show a lot of warmth, and when it comes to stress or worries, these two words are foreign to them.

Also, the money is of no value to these villagers because they continue to use barter, both between themselves and with the merchants who come from Băile Herculane. The staircase leading to the village seems to be the most important thing in the area, being the only way for the villagers to access the cities, but also for the tourists to the unique villages.

The only village in Romania where you can reach by stairs

The staircase consists of four wooden staircase segments and measures approximately 100 meters. The hardest segment to climb is the last one, because it is at an angle of about 90 degrees. However, the staircase is rarely used by the inhabitants, only when it is necessary to reach the surrounding cities.

Until the ladder came into being, there was only a path through the forest that took a whole day to cross. From there, you came to a road that is about 25 kilometers away from Băile Herculane. Currently, it only takes you an hour and a half to get there.

However, you must be careful because this path is also dangerous. For example, in the 1980’s, a woman who lived in the village fell into a trance. Since then, however, no one else has dealt with this kind of tragedy.
