The Gray Man, a challenge for filmmakers: what you didn’t know about the famous scene filmed in Prague

The Russo Brothers have revealed what was the most difficult scene to film for their recent Netflix action movie, The Gray Man.

With a screenplay written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely and based on Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name, The Grey Man revolves around CIA agent Court Gentry AKA Sierra Six. When he discovers his boss is corrupt, Gentry is forced to go on the run by a mercenary named Lloyd Hansen, who is unofficially hired by the CIA to track him down.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as Gentry and Chris Evans as Hansen. They are joined by Ana De Armas, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Henwick, King-Jean Page, Dhanush, Wagner Moura, Alfre Woodard and Julia Butters.

Recently, on an episode of The Edge podcast, the Russo brothers sat down and talked about their latest film and explained what the hardest scene to shoot was.

Anthony Russo noted that while there were many scenes in the film that were difficult to shoot, the Prague sequence presented a different set of challenges because it involved multiple factors, such as a car chase and a tram “gliding” through the city.

“I mean, look, all the scenes are exciting and challenging. The film was meant to be full of adrenaline and action. All the scenes are challenging, all of them are exciting. Certainly the scene in Prague was very hard to shoot. It was an impressive piece of theatre that involved large parts of the city, it involved the city square, it involved a tram going through the city, a car chase, it was very complicated,” the Russo brothers said of the scene that gave them their biggest headaches.
