At a time when most of the car industry is struggling to cope with the semiconductor crisis and the invasion of Ukraine, Dacia seems to be winning victory after victory.
Less than 24 hours ago, the manufacturer from Mioveni boasted 10 million cars created under the Dacia brand, over the years. Now it is in a privileged position to celebrate reaching a new threshold that deserves all the attention.
Dacia is doing well in 2022
Starting from the reality of the first quarter of 2022, the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers (ACEA) has published an updated analysis aimed at car sales on the old continent, broken down by brand.
Thus, it is revealed to us that Dacia managed to sell 103,519 units in the first quarter of 2022 in Europe. At the industry level, the figure itself may not necessarily be shocking, but if you consider that we are talking about a 16.9% year-on-year increase, it is clear that we are talking about an impressive rise, more chosen under the given conditions.
In 2021, we were talking about only 88,527 cars sold by the Mioveni manufacturer. The year-on-year jump also translates into a not inconsiderable increase in market share at European level, from 2.9% then to 3.8% now.
The Victoria Dacia recorded now is all the more remarkable and worthy of praise, if you consider the decline of the European car market as a whole. This is a decrease of no less than 10.6% from one year to the next. Thus, the domestic manufacturer reached the point where it surpassed Seat (3%) from the Volkswagen group, Citroen (3.5%) and Fiat (3.5%) from the Stellantis or Nissan group (2.1%).
Meanwhile, the other domestic manufacturer, Ford, which produces Puma and EcoSport models in Craiova, registered in the same unit no less than 132,538 vehicles, down 15.4%, compared to 156,735 units in the first quarter of last year.
