The actors in “Harry Potter” through the lens of artificial intelligence: how different they are from the movies

Those of us who watched the Harry Potter movies before reading the books couldn’t imagine the characters until they were portrayed on screen. And while the appearance of some of the actors almost perfectly matched the portrayals of the characters in the books, such as Severus Snape, some characters should have looked much different.

This intrigued the creators at Bright Side and they decided, with the help of artificial intelligence, to create images based on the book descriptions of the characters to see what the cast would look like in the Harry Potter series films.

Harry Potter

In the books, Harry is described as a boy with a thin face, dark hair and bright green eyes. He wore round glasses and the only thing he liked about his appearance was the thin lightning bolt-shaped scar on his forehead.

Ron Weasley

Ron is very tall and thin, with blue eyes and red hair. He has a freckled complexion and a long nose.

Hermione Granger

Hermione is described as having bushy brown hair, brown eyes and large front teeth.

Neville Longbottom

In the books, he is short, chubby, round-faced and has blond hair. Neville is also described as having a lathe.

Severus Snape

Snape is described as a thin man with a large, hooked nose. He has shoulder-length, greasy black hair and cold, dark eyes.

Draco Malfoy

The books describe Draco as a tall boy with a pale, sharp face, blond hair and grey eyes.

Ginny Weasley

In the books, Ginny is small in stature, with long, fiery red hair, a freckled complexion and bright brown eyes.

Fred and George Weasley

The twins are described as short and stocky, with red hair and freckles.

Lucius Malfoy

Lucius has a pale, sharp face with cold grey eyes and short, pale blonde hair.

Professor McGonagall

McGonagall is described as a tall, severe-looking woman with dark hair, often tied back in a bun.

Bellatrix Lestrange

She is described as a tall woman with long, thick, shiny black hair, thin lips, dark eyes.

Remus Lupin

Remus is described as a man with a pale face, a scar and wrinkles, along with light brown hair that has turned grayer with age. In 1993, he wore a thin moustache, and after 1995 he had more of a rough beard.

Albus Dumbledore

In the books, Dumbledore is depicted as a classic wizard – slim and tall, with long silver hair and a long beard. He has a very long, crooked nose and blue eyes.

Rubeus Hagrid

Hagrid is described as being almost twice the height of a normal man, with long black hair and a beard that hid most of his face.

Luna Lovegood

The books describe Luna as a girl with waist-length blonde hair, silver eyes and a bemused look on her face.

Molly Weasley

Molly is described as short and plump, with a kind face and red hair.

Sirius Black

Sirius Black is a very handsome, tall man with grey eyes and long black hair.
