Square Enix pleased with sales of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth – That’s Gaming

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be remembered as not only one of the best games of 2024, but also as one of the best Final Fantasy-games ever. Still, to the disappointment of Square Enix, could not match its commercial success from rave reviews. Square Enix has previously stated that sales of Rebirth have fallen below the company’s expectations. Combined with the disappointing performance of Final Fantasy 16 this has led the publisher to repeatedly state that future titles will no longer be exclusive to one platform.

In an interview with IGN Brazil repeated Yoshinori Kitase, producer of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, this message. According to Kitase, while Square Enix is “pleased” with the sales figures of the remake, the company has concluded that exclusivity on a single platform is no longer feasible if their games are to be profitable enough.

“While we are confident and satisfied that we are reaching a certain level of sales, it is clear that, given the modern demands of games, we cannot remain exclusive to one platform,” he said. “I think we need to offer the game to as many players as possible.”

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will appear on Jan. 23 for PC, while Final Fantasy 16 was released for that platform back in September. The big question now is how long it will be before both titles (and Final Fantasy 7 Remake) are finally making their way to Xbox. Probably the next big Final Fantasy-game, however, will no longer be a PlayStation-exclusive title.
