Nearly 800 Portuguese Firefighters are fighting 11 active fires across the country this Saturday, with the participation of 259 vehicles in the extinguishing tasks, as reported by the National Authority for Emergencies and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
Four of the 11 outbreaks are of concern to firefighters, in particular the one in BaiĆ£o, in Porto, against which 127 operational troops and 45 vehicles on the ground are fighting.
The other seven fires are being controlled, in particular the Chaves fire, in Vila Real, which concentrates the largest number of means (148 firefighters and 45 vehicles).
There are still another 30 fires that need the participation of firefighters, although they are practically extinguished. There are still 221 firefighters and two aircraft involved in these fires.
In Faro, the situation still requires the attention of 212 operators, assisted by 78 vehicles. There are also 145 firefighters and 50 vehicles completing the extinguishing of the fire in Oliveira de AzemĆ©is, according to information gathered by the Portuguese newspaper ‘Publico’.
