Elon Musk wants to save humanity from an AI that could eventually wipe us out – with its own AI.

Now he has revealed on the American broadcaster Fox that he is said to be working on “TruthGPT” (via TheVerge.com).

The reason is not just progress or money – at least if you want to believe it. He is allegedly concerned with creating a “maximum truth-seeking AI” in order to “avoid the destruction of mankind”.

Musk shared that he intended “TruthGPT” to be understood as a course correction from OpenAI, the developers of ChatGPT. He co-founded OpenAI as a non-profit organization at the time. In the meantime, however, the company has founded a subsidiary that is supposed to bring profit.

According to Musk, the profit incentives could ensure that the ethics of the AI ​​models could be so compromised. “TruthGPT” is intended to be a transparent alternative.

More recently, Elon Musk and other big names in tech, such as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, had called for a development phase for Large Language Models (like ChatGPT).

How far the work on “TruthGPT” has progressed – if it has even started – is not known. In March, however, Musk almost secretly founded a new AI company called X.AI. It is quite possible that this company is or will be responsible for the development.
