Samsung has launched the Smart Monitor M8, a PC monitor with Smart TV and webcam features

Samsung launched its M8 series of smart monitors last year, and now continues it in 2022 with a new generation. The new Samsung Smart Monitor M8 comes with a slim design, integrated smart features and even the possibility of productivity without an attached PC. Of course, when connected to a computer, the smart monitor becomes an integrated solution, offering stereo speakers and an internal webcam.

Smart Monitor M8 is primarily a 32 ”4K monitor, which benefits from the Smart TV capabilities we know from Samsung TVs. Thus, you have direct access to the TV, through the remote control included in the package, access to the most popular video and audio streaming services, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV + or YouTube, without the need to connect to a computer.

Also, with the integration of DeX, Microsoft 365 and Google Duo, you don’t need a computer for document editing or video conferencing. This is also ensured by the SlimFit Camera, which can track the subject in the frame and zoom in on its face. By connecting a Samsung smartphone or tablet, you can access the DeX desktop, while Apple users can connect their devices to the Smart Monitor M8 via AirPlay 2.

Like Samsung TVs, the monitor can serve as a control hub for smart home devices, such as light bulbs, sockets, vacuum cleaners, or other connected devices. The monitor also includes microphones, which allow the use of smart assistants such as Bixby and Amazon Alexa. It seems that there is no compatibility with Google Assistant and Siri, however. The stand allows you to adjust the height and tilt of the screen so that it can be used in the most comfortable position possible.

The Smart Monitor M8 is available for pre-order for approximately US $ 700 in four colors: white, pink, blue and green. From a distance, the monitor could be mistaken for an Apple iMac, given its color palette and minimalist design. However, it is significantly cheaper than an iMac, with almost $ 1,000, and half the price of the new 27 ”Apple Studio Display monitor. Of course, this is just a productivity and entertainment monitor, while Studio Display is a factory-calibrated creative monitor.
