Samsung begins distribution of OneUI 5 with Android 13 on Galaxy S22 series

Looks like it’s update day for everyone. It’s not just Apple that has released the latest OS versions for their devices, but Samsung as well. Android 13 with the proprietary OneUI 5 interface is now rolling out to Galaxy S22 devices. These had already been in testing for months, so a release was expected as early as September. This is probably the fastest stable software release from Samsung since Google’s Android release.

OneUI 5 is a release that adds a few changes to the lock screen, inspired by those Apple introduced in iOS 16. The customization options are very similar, but the rest of the interface remains largely unchanged.

Currently, users in Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Switzerland and the UK have reported that their Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra phones have started receiving the S90xBXXU2BVJA software version, which is the stable version of OneUI 5. And in the US, those who bought the phones from Verizon are getting this update.

This suggests that a global rollout is imminent, so we can also expect in the UK to receive this update on the S22 series in the next few days. As usual, this release is one that will take place over the next few weeks. Android updates usually come in waves, so as not to “wear out” the servers. So, even if you don’t get the update now, it’s sure to come in a few days.

Those already using the OneUI 5 beta will get a smaller update than those upgrading from OneUI 4 to Android 12. It looks like the final update is an incremental one.
