The Russian government has accused the UK authorities of submitting a flight plan for a spy plane that included Russian airspace, a “provocation” in the eyes of Moscow, which does not rule out taking retaliatory measures.
“The Russian Aerospace Force is tasked with preventing a violation of Russian airspace,” the Defense Ministry explained Tuesday. According to Moscow, any “likely effects” of this “international provocation” will be the “sole” responsibility of London, reports TASS agency.
The Russian Executive alludes to an alleged flight plan of an RC-135 aircraft, mainly dedicated to reconnaissance tasks. Already on Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry denounced an intrusion of an aircraft of this model in the Barents Sea and reported that it had been intercepted.
