Rocket League-inspired game mode to launch in Fortnite

Video game editor Epic Gameshas announced that it will be added to Fortnite a new game mode titled Rocket Racing. This new mode has been developed by Psyonixthe company behind Rocket League. It will be available from December 8, 2023.

At the moment not much is known about the game mode, as only a brief trailer and a statement have been released. This announcement follows a series of moves by Epic Games to integrate two of its most popular titles, Fortnite and Rocket League.

These include adding the iconic Battle Bus as a playable car in Rocket League and hosting an interactive esports party in Fortnite to promote the Rocket League World Championship.

Along with Rocket Racing, Epic Games also announced that. LEGO Fortnite and Fortnite Festival. will be two additional game modes coming to the battle royale.

Despite Epic Games’ attempts to intertwine the fan bases of Fortnite and Rocket League, the company recently laid off 16% of its workforce this year, which greatly affected the team behind Rocket League.

Another Epic Games decision to be enacted this month is the end of player-to-player trading in Rocket League. This means that, as of December 5, players will no longer be able to trade in-game items with each other.

As announced in October, the decision to remove P2P trading was due to Rocket League aligning with Epic Games’ general approach to cosmetics and item store policies. This news generated criticism from various stakeholders and players in the Rocket League community.
