The bitcoin miner listed on the stock exchange Riot will acquire 33,280 machines brand Micro BT for 163 million dollars. Objective: to deploy a hashrate higher than 20 EH/s.
Riot Platforms announced Monday that it has reached an agreement with Chinese manufacturer MicroBT. Bitcoin mining specialist to acquire 33,280 MicroBT ASICs in order to increase its total computing power (hashrate) to more than 20 EH/s.
Cost of operation : 162.9 million dollarsor about $21.5 per terahash, according to the announcement. The miners will be delivered and deployed from the end of the year. They should all be operational by the first quarter of 2024.
These new models are among the most powerful and efficient miners ever designed for Bitcoin (BTC) mining and are produced specifically for immersion cooling systems, such as those that will be used in our Corsicana plant,” commented the boss of the Nasdaq-listed company.
Jason Les added that the new machines would contribute up to 7.6 EH/s to Riot’s total extraction capacity.
As part of the agreement, Riot will also be able to purchase up to 66,560 additional M56S++ miners under the same conditions as the initial order.
Jordan Chen, Director of Operations for MicroBTRiot, for its part, welcomed the deal, calling the order “a major milestone in the history of MicroBT”. “The M56S+ and M56S++ are the most powerful machines we’ve ever developed,” he added.
Last May, the Chinese company unveiled new models from its flagship series WhatsMiner.
