Realme has launched the GT Neo 5 with 240W charging that goes from 0 to 100% in under 10 minutes

Realme was already offering some of the best performing smartphone charging systems on the market, and now with the announcement of the GT Neo 5, it’s breaking all previous records. The new smartphone in the “almost” flagship range comes in two variants, one of which offers charging at 240W and can be fully charged in less than 10 minutes.

Realme’s GT Neo 5 comes in two variants

The Realme GT Neo 5 has been appearing in various leaks for a few months now, so its hardware configuration isn’t exactly surprising. It integrates a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, with 8, 12 or 16 GB RAM and 256 or 1 TB internal storage. Of course, only the top configuration with the fastest charging gets the highest specs, but the standard ones with charging at “only” 150W shouldn’t be ignored either.

The phones have been announced for the Chinese market, for now, and are built around a 6.74″ OLED display with “unusual” resolution of 2,772 x 1,240 pixels, 144 Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color.

The cameras are some average ones, similar to what we usually see in this area: 50 megapixels with IMX980 sensor and stabilization on the main camera, 8 megapixels ultrawide and 2 megapixels amcro. On the front there’s a “standard” 16 megapixel camera.

The top model has the highest battery power on the market

The differences between the Realme GT Neo 5 variants are not only in internal configuration, but also in the battery. The top model, charging at 240W comes with a 4,600 mAh battery that allows charging with an included 20V/12A adapter, while the lower models will use a 5,000 mAh battery and 20V/8A charger.

Realme says that at 240W, the GT Neo 5 charges from 0 to 20% in 80 seconds, to 50% in four minutes and fully to 100% in just 10 minutes. 30 seconds in the socket should provide two hours of phone calls.

The phone is also equipped with an advanced cooling system with a vapor chamber and multiple layers of graphite for heat dissipation. In the company’s tests, the device’s temperature rises only 10 degrees in total during charging. That should also ensure good cooling during complex tasks, such as gaming at the highest settings. The battery promises 1,600 charge cycles before reaching 80% of its original capacity.

Design-wise, the Realme GT Neo 5 seems to do something unique. In the area next to the cameras is a rectangle illuminated with RGB lights, which can be used as a notification LED. An unrealistic representation of the Qualcomm chipset also appears there, with the area decorated with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 logo.

Chinese prices for the Realme GT Neo 5 are surprisingly low

Pricing for the top-of-the-line Realme GT Neo 5 models with 240W charging is 3,199 yuan (€438) for the configuration with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage and 3,499 yuan (€479) for the top-of-the-line variant with 16GB RAM and 1TB storage.

The 150W charging models cost 2,499 yuan for the base variant (8+256 GB) , 2,699 yuan for the middle variant (12+256 GB) and 2,899 yuan for the top variant with 16GB RAM and 256 GB storage.
