Tallinn-based virtual reality studio Maru VR has announced their upcoming VR game Bootstrap Island, a Robinson Crusoe-style roguelike survival game set in the 17th century.
Players find themselves shipwrecked on a mysterious tropical island where they must quickly learn to adapt and stay alive during intense sessions searching for food, drink and weapons; gathering materials to make fire; and surviving visits in the dark nights of ferocious beasts.
Bootstrap Island is designed with avid VR players in mind, targeting PCVR headsets such as Valve Index and Meta (Oculus) Quest PC-link devices;
The game offers a realistic survival adventure in an immersive yet comfortable VR experience, designed with minimal menus and natural-feeling controls. The choices a player makes are crucial to their chances of survival, with each decision potentially having life or death consequences.
