On June 10, the most sweeping update in Rainbow Six Siege history will roll out. Siege X is a free update for all players on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (including Steam) and Amazon Luna.
New game mode: Dual Front
Siege X introduces Dual Front, a permanent and dynamic 6v6 mode. Players must capture three enemy sectors while defending their own on the exclusive new map District. For the first time, attackers and defenders can be combined, creating unique tactical combinations using the skills, weapons and gadgets of 35 carefully selected Operators.
During the match, players can complete missions in the Neutral Zone to earn rewards that give their team a strategic advantage. With the ability to respawn and switch Operators, this mode offers a more accessible experience without losing sight of Siege’s tactical core. Dual Front is updated regularly: the selection of Operators rotates twice a season and the missions in the Neutral Zone change each season.
Improved maps: Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank and Kafe
Five iconic Siege maps get a visual upgrade with improved lighting, shadows and 4K textures: Clubhouse, Chalet, Border, Bank and Kafe. Three additional maps will be added each new season.
In addition, Siege X introduces new interactive environments that deepen gameplay. Destroyable elements such as fire extinguishers, gas lines and metal detectors provide additional strategic options and unexpected twists during matches.
Further updates and modifications:
- Improved abseil navigation
Players can now run horizontally and jump around corners while abseiling, providing more dynamic movement and tactical options. - Optimized audio experience
The updated audio system improves the distribution and reverberation of sounds, allowing players to better locate enemies based on audio cues. - Revamped onboarding for new players
New players can learn the basics of the game through extensive tutorials and field training before plunging into real matches. - Advanced Pick and Ban system
The updated Pick and Ban system creates a new strategic layer by allowing teams to react and adapt to enemy strategies, with simultaneous banning each round to speed up the process. - R6 ShieldGuard anti-cheat system
This unifies all existing anti-cheat initiatives and introduces new technologies to protect the game, including live security updates that occur without scheduled maintenance, making cheats difficult to create. - Comprehensive player protection
Existing anti-toxicity measures will be further enhanced with a revamped reputation system that will better address unsportsmanlike behavior.
Free to access
Starting June 10, Rainbow Six Siege will be free to access. New players get started immediately in Dual Front, Unranked and Quick Play, and unlock up to 26 Operators through progression. Players who upgrade to a premium edition will gain access to Ranked Mode and Siege Cup once they reach level 50 and the ability to get additional Operators. Current players retain all their previously unlocked content and receive exclusive rewards based on the year they started playing.
Closed Beta
The Closed Beta of Siege X is playable now and runs through March 19 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Ubisoft Connect. Here, players can test the full Dual Front experience, including updated gameplay elements. Access to the beta is available via Twitch Drops By watching streams from partner creators. Ownership of Rainbow Six Siege is not required.
