Google entered the smartwatch market last October with the Pixel Watch. For a product of the first generation, the watch was not completely convincing, but it did show potential for successors.
Now there are first indications that there will actually be a Pixel Watch 2 – and soon.
Pixel Watch 2 could appear together with Pixel 8
9to5Google is said to have learned from an unspecified source that the Pixel Watch 2 will be launched alongside Google’s new Pixel 8 smartphones.
Unfortunately, there is no further information about who this source should be and whether it is trustworthy. However, it is quite conceivable that Google will continue the Pixel Watch series and a release with the new Pixel phones makes a lot of sense.
There are also a few teething problems that can be ironed out from the first generation. On the one hand, the first Pixel Watch was already outdated when it appeared on the market: it still had the Samsung Exynos 9110 processor installed, which was already used in the Galaxy Watch 2018. Secondly, the battery life was not particularly long at just one day, to put it mildly.
Google could also change something in terms of design. In particular, the Pixel Watch’s strikingly wide display edges were criticized a lot, especially when using a bright dial.

If this rumor turns out to be true, we could expect a Pixel Watch 2 by October, as Google usually unveils the new Pixel smartphones this month. We expect to have more information during Wednesday’s Google I/O event.
