OpenAI fired its CEO –

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has announced that it has fired its CEO, Sam Altman. In a blog post, the company noted that Altman was “not consistently forthright in his communications with the board.” As a result, the board no longer has confidence in his ability to lead OpenAI.

With Altman stepping down, Mira Murati, the company’s chief technology officer, will serve as interim CEO. Murati has been a member of OpenAI’s leadership team for the past five years and has played a crucial role in the company’s evolution into a global AI leader.

In a statement, the board said, “OpenAI is intentionally structured to advance our mission: to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The board remains fully committed to this mission. We are grateful for Sam’s many contributions to the creation and growth of OpenAI. At the same time, we believe new leadership is needed to move forward. As the leader of the company’s research, product and security functions, Mira is exceptionally qualified to assume the role of interim CEO. We have full confidence in her ability to lead OpenAI during this transition period.”
