OnePlus prepares mid-range Nord CE 3 with 108 megapixel camera

The first two generations of the OnePlus Nord CE proved that Oppo’s secondary brand, OnePlus, can also produce balanced mid-range phones equipped with mid-range hardware, but without too many compromises to achieve a more affordable price point. Early next year, the company will launch the OnePlus Nord CE 3, and the specs list that was published online by OnLeaks suggests that we’re in for another model that will try to enter the “best buy” zone, competing with the Galaxy A53.

OnePlus Nord CE 3 will adopt a 120Hz screen and a high-resolution camera

The Nord CE 3 from OnePlus will be powered by a Snapdragon 695 chipset, which is already outdated but quite powerful for this price range. It will use 8 or 12 GB RAM and 128 or 256 GB storage, along with a large 6.7″ screen with 120 Hz refresh rate. The only major compromise is that the screen is an LCD, not OLED, which will also bring extra size and weight compared to models with more expensive screens.

On the back, only one camera seems to be really “useful”: the 108-megapixel main one. Two other 2-megapixel secondary cameras for depth and macro will be present, but they certainly won’t be used much in reality. An ultrawide would have been much more useful.

OnePlus has been moving towards very fast charging lately, and the new mid-range model will use a 5,000 mAh battery charging at 67W. Many flagships on the market still charge at 25W max.

While we don’t know exactly when this model will be released, we can look at past release schedules and speculate that the new model will hit the market, most likely by spring, at a price of around €350. However, inflation and increased production costs in recent times may lead to a higher price, but it will probably not exceed the psychological threshold of 400 euros.
