Launched over a year ago, the AirPods Pro alternative for Android users is about to move on to a new generation, with the OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earphones coming with improved audio performance and an even more effective implementation of active background noise cancellation technology.
Framed at the top end of the OnePlus manufacturer’s range and expected with a price comparable to the model it replaces (approx. 150 euros), the new product is confirmed from reliable sources for a release in the near future, even receiving a preliminary list of main technical specifications.
Like the Enco X2 model launched by Oppo earlier this year, the Buds Pro 2 headphones use a dual 11mm and 6mm driver configuration for the most even coverage of the entire audio frequency spectrum. Also, the chipset used supports spatial audio technology and high-res processing using the LHDC 4.0 codec.
Optimised for greater efficiency, the ANC function will be able to attenuate ambient noise by up to 45dB, achieved by applying adaptive algorithms that take into account the intensity and type of ambient noise. Each headset has three microphones, facing in different directions to allow the voice to be separated and ‘cleaned’ of unwanted ambient noise.
As for the battery life offered, the Buds Pro 2 headphones are expected to last up to 6 hours or 22 hours on successive charges using the carrying case. The battery life can go up to 9 hours or 38 hours by disabling the ANC function.
The carrying case will be able to be charged both via USB-C and wirelessly, for example by simply placing it on the back of a smartphone equipped with reverse-charging.
The list is completed with support for Google Fast Pair technology, Bluetooth 5.2 and IP55 certification for water and dust protection. The OnePlus Buds Pro 2 earphones will be available in color versions on white, black and green.
