It looks like there’s a substantial update on The Batman, and more importantly, its sequel, The Batman II, that could confirm some popular theories about the plot of the upcoming film.
The Batman Part II, aka the sequel to the 2022 film starring Robert Pattinson as Batman, will still focus on Gotham’s Dark Knight, but also the anti-heroes he battles.
The first Batman installment has received many awards and nominations, scoring 85% critics and 87% audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. It is, at this point, one of DC’s most successful films, and for good reason.
The villains of The Batman 2
The Riddler, played by Paul Dano meets Barry Keoghan’s Joker in Arkham, and the scene suggests that the two might team up.
The Batman certainly set the stage for an incredible future adventure in the first part, and it will feature the Joker in the future.
One of the most exciting elements of the new Batman was the ability to balance a wide variety of crooks living in Gotham, such as Falcone, The Penguin, The Riddler, and a whole clique of corrupt leaders of this city’s elite that Batman feels duty bound to defend.
This inadvertently created the sense that Batman is somewhat alone in his fight against injustice, and much more than creating a single ideal antagonist, the film created the sense that Gotham itself is an almost cursed city with no escape.
Basically, we’re talking about a breeding ground for outlaws, and the intense efforts championed by Batman begin to make sense, even if, admittedly, this Batman is unlike anything we’ve known before.
Obviously, it remains to be seen to what extent the second part of The Batman will live up to the first, since expectations are high in context.
In case you were wondering when you’ll be able to see part two, there’s already a release date: October 3, 2025.
