Streaming is getting more and more expensive. In May, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that the price of his streaming service would be increased.

Disney Plus Premium plan price will increase by $3 from $10.99 to $13.99. For comparison, Netflix’s premium subscription costs $19.99 per month in the US.

This is the second price increase in less than a year. In December 2022, Disney had already added 3 US dollars to the price at that time, thus increasing it to 10.99 US dollars.

Subscription comes with ads

Netflix made a name for itself just a few weeks ago when they canceled the inexpensive basic subscription. For users, that meant plague or cholera: cheaper, but with advertising, or more expensive.

Disney Plus adds a subscription to us instead. The USA has been able to book a cheap, advertising-supported tariff for 8 US dollars a month since last year, and this will be handed over to us soon.

Disney will take action against account sharing

At the same time as the price increase, CEO Iger also announced that the company is actively exploring ways to address account sharing and the best ways for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family.

In short: Disney will also stop account sharing. Supposedly not until 2024.

In fact, Netflix is ​​even having success with it and had more registrations shortly after the ban was enforced than during the pandemic. The provider himself celebrates the decision as a success.

However, Netflix, Disney Plus and Co. do not have to be the only way to enjoy films and series: there is also the good old Blu-ray. Or you can use a simple trick and only pay 20 euros a year for the cinema at home.
