Today Friday, December 8, 2023 DreamHack begins and from 12:00 noon, the Institute of Biomechanics (IBV) in collaboration with the technology firm Encomis going to monitor the players in the framework of the celebration of the Dreamhack 2023 in Valencia. Specifically, IBV researchers will monitor the state of the players of this event in their rest periods and during the course of their games, in order to observe what changes will take place in their emotional and cognitive state, as well as their fatigue states.
This is one of the studies of the research project. MONET_IAwhich is financed by the Instituto Valenciano de Competitividad Empresarial (IVACE), and whose objective is to understand people in their real environment through monitoring and the development of different recording technologies to understand their behavior, emotional and cognitive state.
At Dreamhack, the researchers will use recording devices such as electronic wristbands that measure physiological variables such as heart rate, temperature or hand movements; eyetraking glasses to track eye gaze or measure pupil size; non-contact monitoring systems based on cameras and AI. to measure respiration, for example; webcams to record the players’ gestures during the games and the postures they adopt; and a thermographic camera to capture users’ faces and see their temperature changes associated with stress patterns.
The media will be able to record the tests and will be able to conduct interviews with researchers from the Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV) to learn more about the tests and the project.
