Intensely promoted by Microsoft as a bridge between Windows PCs and Android devices, YourPhone is renamed Phone Link, but only on Android.
The two applications will still need to be installed together to benefit from the promised functionality, namely the synchronization on the PC of the information received on the Android phone, Microsoft anticipating that the name difference will not cause confusion among users. The restyling of both applications should also work “as well”, using features from the Windows 11 interface.
Keeping the tradition, Microsoft puts the users of the latest version of OS first, promising users a full package of features that will “facilitate a native experience under the new Windows 11”. This includes new icons, rounded edges, and a color palette that matches the dark / light theme.
The companion app, which was previously only available on Samsung Galaxy and Microsoft Surface Duo devices, has been renamed Link to Windows. It has a new visual interface that “brings advance notifications,” according to Microsoft.
In the PC application, there is a notification panel just below the phone status and quick settings buttons section, replacing the side navigation panel for messages, photos, and applications.
In addition to already supported devices, Microsoft is extending Phone Link availability to several Android devices, including some HONOR smartphones, such as HONOR Magic V and the Magic4 and Magic3 series.
