Sep. 26 () –
The leader of Brothers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, winner of Sunday’s parliamentary elections, has affirmed that if she receives the assignment to form a government she will work in favor of “all” Italians, with the aim of “uniting” the citizenship and that “Italians are once again proud to be Italians”.
“Italy has chosen us and we will not betray her,” Meloni wrote on Facebook, next to an image in which she poses with the national flag. The far-right leader has affirmed that Brothers of Italy has an “important responsibility” and that she will work to “restore dignity and pride” to the country.
Meloni’s party won 26 percent of the vote in Sunday’s elections and, at the head of a right-wing coalition, aspires to also head Italy’s next government, for which there must still be a round of contacts by the president with the various groups with parliamentary representation.
