Maduro raises the possibility of an electoral advance

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro has raised the possibility of an advance of the elections set for 2024, claiming that “Chavismo is prepared for elections, whenever they are”.

During an event of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the Venezuelan president has detailed that his leadership has raised the possibility of holding elections before 2024, six years after the last time Venezuelans were called to vote in 2018, as reported by ‘El Universo’.

“When are there elections (…) Héctor Rodríguez, is mischievous and tells me: Elections in 2024 or before (…) The truth is that we are prepared so that when there are elections we go out to a great popular and revolutionary victory. Whenever, wherever and however! If you want, I want”, said Maduro.

“(We are) a Government party to govern, truly, from the grassroots, a Government party from the people, with the people and for the people. A Government Party to unite, add and make irreversible the Bolivarian Revolution of the 21st Century”, he stated in declarations gathered by Globovision.

The electoral observation mission of the European Union pointed in November 2021 to irregularities in the regional and local elections that took place in Venezuela, although they pointed out that in general the democratic conditions improved in this electoral process in comparison with other previous ones.
