Game Cluster, promoted by the Madrid City Councilwas constituted in October 2021 and is composed of the following members more than 70 companies leading companies in their sector. Companies from different fields with the same goal: to position Madrid as an international capital of reference for the video game industry.
Among the partners are video game development studios, telecommunications, applied technologies, Esports teams, event and tournament organization companies, law firms, training centers and universities.
This public-private partnership was born to boost the industrial fabric of the sector in the capital, attract investment to our city and increase the innovative capacity of companies. through collaboration between companies, institutions, universities and associations related to gaming. The Cluster is also committed to local talent by promoting entrepreneurship and employability in the sector.
Madrid Game Cluster held last November 2 an extraordinary assembly was held at the Madrid in Game Video Game Campus, during which the new board of directors headed by Olga BlancoVice President of IBM Spain, who presented the lines of action for this new stage: consolidation, growth and expansion.
Blanco will be accompanied by Pilar Sánchez-Bledamanaging partner of the technology and media department of Auren Legal, as vice-president of the Cluster. The members will be Jorge Bravo-HernandezDirector of Operations at Electronic Arts Spain, Jesús GarcÃa FernándezCEO of MKTG Spain, Ander Pérez Fernández-Sayarresponsible for sponsorship and Esports at Telefónica, Aaron Sújar Garridoprofessor of virtual reality and videogames at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and David CarrascoCEO and co-founder of Vermila Studios. Carrascowas also unanimously elected as new secretary of the association.
At the aforementioned ceremony, Fernando PiquerCEO of Movistar Riders and outgoing president of Madrid Game Cluster, highlighted the main milestones of this first stage that the association has been carrying out since 2021. As main achievement, he had the difficult mission of creating and meshing an ecosystem that did not exist in Madrid with companies of different kinds but leaders in their sector. In addition, he underlined the importance of Madrid in Game as the backbone of the initiatives and the close collaboration between both. Finally, he remarked on the great momentum achieved in 2023, the year in which the application to the Ministry of Culture and Sport to convert Madrid Game Cluster into an Innovative Business Grouping.
